Vanessa D. Jones Family Foundation, Inc. will now be "Doing Business As" Building Better Villages, Inc. Our Mission, Vision, & Purpose have not changed-only our name. We are still the same organization, evolving to maximize our growth and potential.
Our Purpose
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that strengthens pathways to postsecondary success by providing scholarships and readiness support to graduating high‑school seniors. The Foundation promotes economic mobility and healthy living through community‑based programs—including teen parent services and a food pantry—that address the needs of marginalized families in Jacksonville, Florida. Our mission is to encourage, empower, and uplift the communities we serve by expanding access to resources, opportunity, and long‑term stability.
We envision a Jacksonville where every young person and family—regardless of background—has the resources, support, and opportunities needed to achieve long‑term stability, economic mobility, and a healthy, empowered future.

Our Inspiration
1955-1998
Vanessa D. Jones was a hard-working, loving, charismatic, intelligent, resourceful, fun, (but no nonsense) mother. She was a proud graduate of Andrew Jackson High School-Class of 1973. She worked tirelessly to give her children better opportunities than those that were available to her. She believed that education in all forms (college, trade/vocational school, military) coupled with hard work would lead to a better life. The Foundation will honor her memory by investing in the future of our youth, just as she did for her children.
